How to Get Affordable Dental Care for Veterans

Did you know that the armistice that unofficially ended World War I was declared on the 11 hour of the 11 day of November 1918?

That’s why we honor our military veterans on November 11. Unless, of course, the holiday lands on a Sunday. Then, we observe Veterans Day the following day, like this year, on November 12.

The Veterans Health Administration (VA) is often the go-to resource for veterans to get the medical care they need, but while they provide minor emergency work, dental care is largely overlooked. Many veterans don’t even qualify to receive the kind of corrective dental care that they need.

To help cover these gaps, many dentists offer pro bono dental work on Veterans Day to needy patients.

There are also assistance groups and societies that help veterans pay for the dental work they need, such as the Air Force Aid Society, the Army Emergency Relief, Operation Family Fund, and the Navy-Marine Corps Relief.

Veterans can also check out dental schools in their area. The majority of these dental schools operate free clinics where dentistry students undertake restorative and emergency work under the supervision of practicing dentists.

Another affordable option is Discount Dental Plans. Discount Dental Plans are a low-cost alternative to dental insurance that can help you save 10% to 60% on most dental care procedures.
