Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we’ve taken it upon ourselves to remind everyone about the importance of keeping yourself healthy, and that includes your smile.
Too often, oral health is overlooked as an important part of overall health, when in fact keeping your smile healthy has many long-term benefits. So we’d like to invite you to join us in maintaining a healthy smile and healthier you!
DentalPlans.com has teamed up with Dentist.net to spread awareness of how important healthy smiles are, and the connection between gum disease and breast cancer. Therefore, we’re holding a contest to encourage everyone to wear pink with their best accessory – their smile! Today through Monday we’re holding a photo contest in which participants will submit ‘selfies’ of themselves wearing pink to serve as a reminder that breast cancer awareness is not complete without understanding the importance of dental health (and maybe smiles look better next to pink too).
Last year DentalPlans.com created an infographic, which included facts about the connection between gum disease and breast cancer and the importance of proper oral health during chemotherapy. This year, we gave our infographic a facelift and have taken our breast cancer awareness to straight to the dentist office and in the hands of their patients. We’ve teamed up with our dentists across the country to send them breast cancer awareness packets for their offices, with informational cards and “Think Pink” toothbrushes to hand out during the month of October.
While DentalPlans.com strives to keep both Members and non-Members informed about the complications related to gum disease, we know it’s equally important to address oral health issues that are linked to breast cancer. We’d like to invite everyone to join us in recognizing the importance of a healthy smile. We’re letting our siblings, friends, significant others, aunts, third cousins, former roommates, high school lab partners, ex-bosses – basically everyone we’ve ever come into contact with – know, and we’d like to encourage everyone to do the same.
Join us and spread the word! Send us your selfies, tweet to your friends, and share our infographic. Just make sure that whatever you do, it’s with a smile!
